Façade du Château Gravas

This winery, formerly called Doisy Gravas, has been owned by the Bernard family for six generations. Located between the two first classified growths of Barsac (Climens and Coutet), Chateau Gravas extends over 11.5 hectares of Sauternes on an exceptional terroir, characteristic of the Haut Barsac region, with fissured limestone; this allows deep root penetration for excellent plant nutrition, a guarantee of quality for the wine. Graves Red and White are also produced on 3.5 hectares in the neighbouring village. This gentleman's residence in the middle of the vineyards immediately announces the intimate and convivial character of the site, as an invitation to come and relax and learn about our wine and vine world, in a playful way.

Welcoming visitors is an old tradition at Gravas. Over time, the organisation of festivals and cultural events at the estate has been added: conferences, concerts, themed exhibitions and any form of expression associating the Arts and wine. A Golden Best of Wine Tourism from the Bordeaux CCI in the "Art and Culture" category was awarded in 2014 for this energy, which is still palpable today.

Open 7 days a week, Chateau Gravas gives a major place to exchanges with the public where human contact is always a priority.

"This beautiful initiative to bring together these seven wineries suddenly seemed obvious: a magical complementarity, like pieces of a puzzle that fit together naturally through the same state of mind (quality at all costs, respect for nature, unfailing energy and the humanism that drives us all), proposals for innovative and entertaining visits and a perfect understanding between all. Finally, it turns out that these properties, located from Graves to Sauternes, are the perfect destination for visitors looking to discover our region through real "highlights".

The visits

exposition dans chai à barriques du Château Gravas

Voyage sensoriel dans notre vignoble

The visit is always led by the owner herself. A true sensory journey begins by explanations about the Sauternes and Graves appellations; then, a journey through the vineyard to better understand the plant and its implications, to arrive at the top of Barsac with an breathtaking point of view of the geographical situation.

The exploration continues inside, in the former vinification room which has become a tasting room where an old stone press, almost unique, is enthroned. The setting can be surprising, with artistic touches everywhere, right down to the bottle labels, each with its own story. Let yourself be lulled into an atypical world, while discovering the secrets of wine making.

After a quick viewing on the large screen, the highlight is the barrel cellar transformed into an art gallery with a permanent exhibition of paintings and sculptures by the Alsacian artist Paul Flickinger, which is renewed every year. Finally, there is a tasting of 4 to 5 wines with an introduction to wine tasting
